Darden shooting: summary to be released

Despite calls from Mayor Paul Fraim and others, the full report of the State Police investigation into the matter will not be released. Instead, a summary will be released with an accompanying letter from the State Secretary of Public Safety John W. Marshall explaining why.

Fraim expects to have the summary and the letter in about 10 days. I’d be curious to see those as well. Why the full report is not being released is a mystery to me.

Oh – and by the way, just because Marshall is the son of Thurgood Marshall, the first black appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, doesn’t give his “letter” any special meaning. Does it really matter who his father was? His father is not the one weighing in on this.

One Response to “Darden shooting: summary to be released”

  1. Anthony Burfoot, our new vice mayor, invited certain individuals from Ward 3 to meet on Sat the 17th of Feb. 2007. He invited Jack Doyle so that we could discuss the “summary” of Officer Darden’s death. MY summary of the event will be verbal on Shadow Norfolk.org tomorrow the 18th, but let me say, I’m never going to get over the fact that a bullet ended up in the barrel of the victim’s gun. I want to know the odds of something like that happening. I think we at least deserve THAT, don’t you?
