    2. One who believes in social equality or discounts distinctions in rank.

[French démocrate, back-formation from démocratie, democracy. See democracy.]

dem·o·crat·ic (dĕmə-krătĭk) pronunciation
adj.

  2. Of or for the people in general; popular: a democratic movement; democratic art forms.
  3. Believing in or practicing social equality: “a proper democratic scorn for bloated dukes and lords” (George du Maurier).

Note the difference. Democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective. Now, do I need to define nouns and adjectives as well?

  1. I will just say that when I saw this in my feedreader, I didn’t think it would garner 30 comments. This must be a real sticking point for you guys in the Democrat Party.

    Couldn’t help myself. . . .

  2. Vivian Said “Shawn – it’s not hypersensitivity. It’s one of those things that just grates on my ears, just like anytime I hear improper use of English.”

I love Vivian, but this line made me chuckle… Things that grate your nerves or ears might be due to hypersensitivity… Just kidding. Thought it was funny.

Good topic (As is the norm on this blog) and some good points. I have a young son and I am doing everything to make sure he speaks well. I teach him things like:
    “The Steelers are evil”
    “Go Bengals”
“Bad people come from Michagn” and
“Democrats want to steal your money”

Ok, I am just kidding… I don’t tell him that about Michigan :-)

  3. I swear to all that is holy… One day I will learn how to spell!!!!

Michagn = Michigan. Aw, who cares… That state sucks anyway!

  4. Where’s waldo?

“they were surely better than the names that George Allen called people.”

    What “people”?

  6. Unlike the left, I really haven’t seen much crying and whining from the Republicans over the loss. Sure they are kicking themselves and getting picky on the Dem leadership but ths whole thought that the GOP need to “get over it” makes me laugh.

I understand since Dems have done just that for so many elections they assume those who lose cry like a ittle baby, but look around… How many demanded recount and accusations of voter fraud do you hear about? Not much

Republicans have proven they can win and they know how to lose. Dems don’t know what to do when they win…excpet to expect the new minority to act like the children they are.

  7. Squeak rewrites reality, and then says:

expect the new minority to act like the children they are.

    Finally, we agree!

  8. Maybe they’ll pass a politically correct law forcing people to speak the way they want them to speak.

Such is the philosophy of the Democrat Party.

  9. There is nothing politically correct about using proper English. When urban youth do it, no doubt the same folks here who are doing it in this case would label them as uncouth and unlearned. The difference there is that those kids may not know any better.

Then again, stupid is as stupid does.

  10. Wow, such penetrating insight into the true intentions of the Democratic Party, “Insider” – is that where you get your name? Tell us, when do they plan to take our guns away? Or, better, when are they going to force our kids to gay-marry? I want to be sure I’ve got my guns all lined up and flowers ready. Thanks!
