Charity idea: Help Virginia Read

One of the joys of blogging is having people read what I write. If all I do is write and no one reads it, would there be any joy? I don’t know – and I really don’t want to find out ;)

But the reality is that there are some people who cannot read. Stepping in to help them is the Virginia Literacy Foundation. Founded by former first lady Jeannie P. Baliles, the organization has been around for twenty years, providing more than $3 million in grants to 140 organizations across the Commonwealth who serve some 15,000 under-educated adults.

2006 RVABlogs Winter CharityThis year the Virginia Literacy Foundation is once again the beneficiary of the annual winter fundraiser sponsored by Richmond-area blog aggregator RVABlogs and the company that runs that aggregator, PharrOut. Head on over and make a contribution. And tell all your friends.

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
