Update: male vs female, black vs white

Clarence PageIn my earlier post on this subject, I mentioned that what prompted the post was seeing Clarence Page on TV. I emailed Mr. Page to alert him to the post. Mr. Page was kind enough to email me back. In that email, he pointed out that he is not of the general opinion that a white female will be elected president before a black male. Specifically in the case of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, he believes Clinton to win over Obama because she is ahead in money, name recognition and most polls.

While I did say that his comments were made in discussing the two of them, it was not clear in the post (nor clear to me when I saw the show) that he was restricting this opinion to a contest between the two of them. I appreciate Mr. Page taking the time to point this out and apologize for misinterpreting his position.

I will say, though, that I’m glad that I misinterpreted his position as it allowed us here to have a good conversation on race and gender.

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
