Well, I have a 65″ widescreen HDTV and I was going to invite all of you over for the game but I guess I can’t do it now. Seems the NFL doesn’t want folks having SuperBowl watch parties where the TV screens are larger than 55 inches, unless, of course, you happen to have a sports bar.

I wonder if similar rules will affect my Water Polo Championship viewing soiree this year?
In all seriousness, though, I do think it’s kind of sad that the NFL would be so heavy-handed in a situation like this.
Posted by Johnny Camacho | Friday, February 2, 2007, 3:09 amLike the NFL doesn’t have enough money, they need to carp about licensing fees….
We just got a 65″ Mitsubishi HDTV last weekend. I am still hooking it all up. We had wanted to get one anyway, but when they said no interest for two or three years, we said, “ok”.
So, if anyone wants to come out to BFE Virginia (Cumberland County) and watch, we always have good snackies.
Megan?
Posted by Mark Brooks | Friday, February 2, 2007, 5:25 amThere’s a football game this weekend?
Posted by Brian Kirwin | Friday, February 2, 2007, 5:51 amIt’s this weekend? Like in the next two days?
Posted by whackette | Friday, February 2, 2007, 7:50 amIs that directed at anyone in particular, Whackette?
Posted by Mark Brooks | Friday, February 2, 2007, 8:45 amMark – nice
Isn’t it always cool to use somebody else’s money?
All of you in BFE VA (love that!) can head to Mark’s. Mitsubishi makes a fine HDTV
Posted by vjp | Friday, February 2, 2007, 9:07 amNot really, Mark. I’m just surprised that it’s here already. Kinda late for grabbing a sitter and I can’t just take them with me ’cause one is grounded.
I don’t think I’ve ever been invited to a super bowl party before.
Maybe next year?
Posted by whackette | Friday, February 2, 2007, 11:06 amI KNEW IT! Vivian proves why she is a liberal:
“Isn’t it always cool to use somebody else’s money?”!
Posted by Jim Hoeft | Friday, February 2, 2007, 12:43 pmWell, that’s just good economics, Jim, not liberal politics.
Posted by vjp | Friday, February 2, 2007, 2:33 pmWhackette,
We always have something, even if it is just family.
You are welcome to come over when ever you want.
Jim – It’s not like they told us they were giving us a TV, we can just avoid paying interest for a few years, hopefully long enough to pay it off.
Vivian – I forgot to mention the new Yamaha A/V receiver, and Klipsch surround speakers; it’s the nicest gear I have ever had!
Oops! That includes a 12″ subwoofer, also Klipsch
Posted by Mark Brooks | Friday, February 2, 2007, 2:41 pmWhackette, I also forgot to mention we make our own salsa and other tomato products (V8), and we will probably have some crab dip as well.
We gave some away to a campaign last year, and the volunteers couldn’t get enough!
Posted by Mark Brooks | Friday, February 2, 2007, 2:46 pmSalsa that doesn’t come from a jar!!! YUMMY!! I can’t wait for fresh tomatoes– real tomatoes, not gassed under ripe impostors.
Posted by whackette | Friday, February 2, 2007, 2:56 pmLast year, we had well over 100 tomato plants, plus a lot more.
Corn, Black eyed peas, snaps, blueberries, peppers (3 kinds), rhubarb, sweet potatoes, yukon gold, reds, canteloupe, watermelon, gourds, onions, cucumbers for pickles, cabbage, broccoli, etc
God I love living in the country!
Posted by Mark Brooks | Friday, February 2, 2007, 3:35 pmI suddenly feel like strolling through the produce section of the grocery store, but I would likely be disappointed.
Posted by whackette | Friday, February 2, 2007, 4:11 pmMark – you’ve got a pretty impressive setup there
Similar to mine.
As for the salsa and most of those veggies – I think I’ll pass. But send me some sweet potatoes!
Whackette – stroll thru the grocery store? Don’t you grow veggies on your farm?
