WELCOME
I learned a lot about politics as the result of my run for City
Treasurer. This blog is my way of staying in touch with those who supported me and reaching out to those who did not.
The primary focus of this blog is Norfolk politics. Of course, you can't talk about Norfolk in a vacuum, so sprinkled in are some regional, state, and national politics. And sometimes, no politics at all.
The inspiration for this blog comes from one of Virginia's most respected forefathers:
"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. I would be inclined to put the bumper sticker on the “front” of my vehicle, but those things are hard to remove. I guess you now know my political affiliation.

Um, I don’t
It was for the man the Clintons rescued from being the GOP’s favorite boogeyman – Jesse. The first time I saw a Run, Jesse, Run sticker on the front of a car, it was 1984 in New Jersey. Doesn’t strike me as terribly funny for any number of reasons, but I’ll grant that that may be chalked up to humorlessness on my part.
The second time I saw one? Mid 90s, in Greensboro, NC. Now THAT was funny.
I assume by the second one you are referring to Jesse Helms. That would be funny.
Ha ha ha! That’s really funny!
Heh, you have to admire those bumper sticker makers. They must make a killing off of these things.
