Action alert: HB1727

HB1727 managed to get out of the House of Delegates with some minor changes. I consider this bill onerous and one that should have never made it out of committee. I met bill sponsor Matt Lohr at the ODU Alumni reception last night and he seems a nice enough guy but I guess Bob Marshall is rubbing off on him in a big way.

The bill is now assigned to the Public Education subcommittee of the Senate Education and Health Committee. The subcommittee meets at 8:00AM Friday morning and this bill is on the docket. If you have time, please email the members of the sub-committee and ask them to oppose this bill.

  1. Thank You Vivian! I followed his dumb bill last year that was tougher than this. I stopped watching this one when I saw the 10-10 vote. No idea it had come back…

  2. No, this is not Marshall rubbing off on Lohr, this is Lohr’s predecessor, Glenn Weatherholtz’s legacy of homophobe legislation being carried on.

It would be great if this failed in committee.

Interestingly, if you look at Lohr’s overall rating (poll aggregation) on Richmond Sunlight, it’s far below that of his neighbors, Saxman, Landes, even good ol’ anti-immigrant Gilbert. Primarily because of HB1727.
