Isle of Wight says yes, HRTA approved

By a 3-2 vote, the Isle of Wight County Board agreed to the Hampton Roads Transportation Authority. The Daily Press story is here and the Virginian Pilot one is here.

I am not happy with the plan. I understand the argument that something had to be done and that this is the best they could come up with – but I still don’t like it. I also remain concerned that we will not see any additional efforts at transportation fixes for a long time. In the meantime, the amount of money being raised by the HRTA is insufficient for our needs. Many of those who voted for the plan, both in the General Assembly and at the local level, don’t like it, either.

But we’re here now, so I guess the only thing we can do is make the best of it.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
