The supporters of Jefferson are doing the cause for fair and impartial administration of justice a tremendous disservice by coming to the defense of someone who has as much evidence against him as Jefferson. By making it about race and not about fundamental fairness and justice they are saying that any behavior by an African American politician goes. Bunch of idiots.

You are correct. Sometimes it is not about race, but it seems to always be a “defense”. Just like the Verbena Askew pastors, etc. who sprang to her defense. To them everthing is about race. Jefferson is just a criminal. His race is neither the cause nor is it a defense.

Vivian — I heard his press conference where he claimed that the FBI gave him the money, so that he could in turn give it to some Nigerians in a sting operation. This is sort of like Congressman Myers’ defense in Abscam 25 years ago. There’s nothing new under the sun, I guess. Either that, or the “I was playing golf in the backyard” defense was already taken.
