Warner pig roast

Warner PR crowdI understand that the caterers prepared for 7,000 attendees at today’s pig roast, hosted by former governor Mark Warner and his wife, Lisa Collis. I have no idea how many folks were there; let’s just say it was a bunch :)

Warner shaking handsWarner took up his normal spot after playing a bit of basketball (and injuring his leg in the process) to shake Kaine at Warner Pig Roasthands shortly after I arrived. He was in the same spot when I left – and people were still standing in line. A few feet away, Governor Tim Kaine had his own line of people waiting to shake his hand. Kaine didn’t last as long as Warner, though, and left before I did. It was good to see him so relaxed.

I got a chance to chat with a number of people from around the state. I didn’t get video of all of them, but I got some :)

Oh, and in case you missed it, Secretary Viola Baskerville was wearing the coolest button there ;)

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. Great to see you there. It was really a great event–perfect weather, good food, and wall to wall Democrats! What more could you ask for?

  3. It was a great time. The weather was wonderful, the view of the river amazing and Mark and Lisa had lots of games and events for the kids.
All in all a great day and someone needs to teach viv how to pour a beer.

  4. It was a good time. I didn’t get the chance to talk to so many folks that I saw out of the corner of my eye. Mark – looking forward to your photos. I didn’t take that many because I was too busy chatting.

And linda – I’m really not much of a beer drinker, and when I do occasionally have one, it comes in a bottle :)
