For Giffin and Rerras

Both Hank Giffin and Nick Rerras are pushing for a 5% cap on real estate assessments. Tuesday night, the question was raised at a candidates forum in Portsmouth. Here’s what their fellow Republican, Sen. Fred Quayle, had to say about it.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  2. Funny, the 5% cap has been first time House candidate Manoli Loupasssi (R) big campaign focus for the 69th for about four months and has sent out as many mailers about it as he has his “classrooms first” proposals. Interesting.

  3. AEM – two points. First, the GA is unlikely to pass the cap these 2 are touting, and second, where the cap has been tried, it has backfired.

Kinda like the car tax. Bumper sticker-style politics may get some votes, but the people deserve to know the truth.
