2007 General Assemby races, Local, Norfolk, Politics, Virginia

Candidate profiles

In case you missed them, the Virginian Pilot started a series of candidate profiles this week.

  • Monday – 13th Senate district – Republican incumbent Fred Quayle and Democratic challenger Steve Heretick
  • Tuesday – 83rd House district (open seat) – Democrat Joe Bouchard and Republican Chris Stolle
  • Wednesday – 87thHouse district – Democratic incumbent Paula Miller and Republican challenger Hank Giffin
  • Thursday – 21st House district – Republican incumbent John Welch and Democratic challenger Bobby Mathieson
  • Today – 82nd House district – Republican incumbent Bob Purkey and Democratic challenger Bob MacIver

November 6 is fast approaching and it is good to see the Pilot doing some coverage of the races. I wish there was some consistency, though. Some of the “profiles” are simply a rehash of prior articles, while others present better information. Some of the online links include pictures of both candidates as well as a diagram of the district, others do not.

Finally, in this day and age, why in the world don’t the articles include the candidates’ websites? At the very least, the online versions should have them included. (Note to PilotOnline: with elections in Virginia every year, why is there not an Election channel listed under News?)

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
