Heretick news

Steve Heretick logoA few nights ago, Senator Creigh Deeds came to town to help out with the campaign of Steve Heretick, the Democratic candidate in the 13th Senate district. The afternoon kicked off with a press conference held at the campaign headquarters on the topic of the $25 tax being imposed on single parents receiving child support. Local TV station WAVY covered the press conference, in which Heretick called for the tax be repealed. “Working Virginians, and particularly the 80,000 single parents affected by this new tax who rely upon child support to help make ends meet, have enough burdens on them without this new tax that Fred Quayle continues to support,” said Councilman Heretick. The tax was mandated by the federal government but several states have chosen to absorb the cost rather than pass it on.

Heretick and DeedsAfter giving a great speech to the staff and volunteers at the campaign headquarters, Deeds accompanied Heretick to church in Suffolk. Also with them were Portsmouth Sheriff Bill Watson and Portsmouth council member Elizabeth Psimas.

The Heretick campaign is coming on strong as Election Day nears. Every day, he is picking up more and more voters. A couple of letters to the editor appeared in The Progress-Index in support of Heretick.

Go Steve!

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
