McCabe not running against Drake

According to PilotOnline, Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe (D) will not be running for the 2nd Congressional District seat, citing family:

“Ultimately, my family and I did not feel that the timing was right,” McCabe said. “My wife and I have teenage boys in the early years of high school. To disrupt their high school years would not be in their best interest.”

The 2nd is currently represented by Thelma Drake (R).

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. If what he says is true, then good for him.

  2. Maybe for him, but not for us. I think he was our strongest contender, even more so than Ms. Wagner. Vivian, any thoughts on who could seriously challenge Drake now, since our top 2 is out?

  3. There will be a challenger to Rep. Drake, no doubt about that. In these times, anyone is a serious challenger provided that they adhere to the time/money/people paradigm for a successful campaign. I doubt if Rep. Drake would take anyone lightly.
