Now, Mr. Speaker and ladies and gentlemen of the House, we have a real opportunity and a real privilege. Because during the next 55 days, we can take action on all those problems.
Or not.
You go, girl

Wow…a whole speech about real solutions that doesn’t contain a single real solution.
Posted by Brian Kirwin | Monday, January 14, 2008, 4:16 pmI love this line: “When the Washington Post is your home town paper, being in the Virginia General Assembly is like going into the witness protection program.” Bwahahaha! And oh so true.

Not exactly the polished quote I’m reading up there… but I like Del. Amundson, so she gets a big ol’ free pass (even though Kirwin is right — I didn’t hear about any solutions in an otherwise fine speech of sentiment).
Posted by Shaun Kenney | Monday, January 14, 2008, 5:31 pmI really appreciate what Kris is saying, but I can’t get over how thrilling it is to see such spectacular Democrats around her. Delegates Bouchard, Vanderhye and Poisson… now there’s some smart people!
Posted by eileen | Monday, January 14, 2008, 9:27 pmCan you tell the Rs from the Ds in this thread?
Posted by vjp | Monday, January 14, 2008, 10:09 pmYes, Vivian, I can. The Democrats are the ones who aren’t being snarky and cynical about a largely ceremonial opening day speech. I’m proud of Kris!
Posted by anonymousisawoman | Monday, January 14, 2008, 10:21 pmWhat’s so snarky about substance?
