Well, I didn’t answer because I don’t know. I was under the impression that the laws prohibiting voting by convicted felons were on the books for a long time, and that other states have only in recent years started rolling them back.

It’s hard to see this passing anytime soon.

I have a history question on this topic. Is it true that that this law passed specifically to disenfranchise black men?

AA – not sure how it “belittles” you. Restoration of voting rights, if you are not a felon, says nothing about you and your choices. It is about whether we will forever punish people.

Why in the world should they move? They have just as much of a right to live here as you or I.

And, in any case, Virginia has decided once again to pass on this.

AvocationAviator sounds like one of those “compassionate conservatives” to me! Perhaps we should go back to the scarlet letter… Once someone has paid their debt to society that should be it. EVERYONE should have the right to vote and exercise it.
So, exactly does taking away someone’s right to vote accomplish?

Miss Vivian, Your view on this belittles me and everyone else who worked hard at making the right choices in life including raising their kids to make the right choices.

Why not let these miscreants choose another state in which to live? Their choice. It was their choice when they chose to break the law. It should be their choice in which state to live. If they choose to have voting rights restored then let them choose another state in which to live.

It has always been their choice.
