Monday update (02/04): Redistricting

Weekly update of my legislative agenda issue.

SB38, the bipartisan redistricting bill, will be read for the third time in the Senate today. It has been included in the bills on the uncontested calendar, so passage of this bill is expected.

Next it will go to the House, where it should land in P&E subcommitte on Elections. Getting this bill out of the subcommittee will be crucial, so if you know any members (Chairman Chris Jones, Robert Bell, Bob Brink, Rosalyn Dance, John O’Bannon, and Terrie Suit) please contact them and ask for their support. (Click on the name to email them.)

As always, if you have not already done so, please sign the petition. And if you have signed already, thanks for your support.

UPDATE: From the comments, we have one less person to contact :)

As you probably know, I was the patron of HB 1070, which would have established a nonpartisan redistricting advisory commission. SB 35 passed the Senate 33-5 today. I look forward to supporting it in the House after Crossover!

Thanks for your support, Del. Brink! Now, let’s see if we can get the others on board.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
