Hi Vivian, I watched the very poor performance by an Obama supporter vs. a co-chair of HRC's campaign and one of the most terrifically talented members of the U.S. House we Democrats currently have (and someone who IMO would make a marvelous Speaker) . It looked like it was his first (and last) time in the national spotlight and he was unprepared and flustered.

However, ff you follow this link the information should help you better know the extensive legislative background of our next President of the United States

HMR,

What you say is possible. I just think it is unlikely that any true republican will vote for the most liberal man in the US for president.

After talking to and reading about the primary voting I have no insight into how anyone might vote.'

After the VA primary I was talking with a woman that shared how she and her husband voted. She, laughing all the time, said that she voted for Obama and her husband voted for Huckabee. But, in the general election she would vote for McCain and her was going to vote for Obama.

This appeared to be a game with her. She thought it was funny. Unfortunately, she nor her husband had any idea of the political implications of their vote. As I talked with her she had no idea of the issues of the candidates.

There seems to be a very large number of American voters that have no idea about what they are voting for, they are just voting. Voting is the American thing to do, it isn't important what you vote for but that you vote.

I guess, what I'm saying is that who knows how anyone will vote. They will wait for MSNBC, CNN or FOX to tell them.

Also, I came to this site several times last Tuesday and Wednesday after the primary, figuring I would get some great stories and comments about the VA primary. But there was nothing.

Two reasons. #1 - I have a job and can only blog when time permits. Which leads me to #2 - if a topic has already been covered elsewhere, I try not to do "me, too" posts. If I have something new or different to say, I'll cover it. In this case, the only thing that seemed to have slipped thru the cracks was the issue of crossover voting (and what happened in CD9), which I did follow up on.

I agree, Viv, he couldn't come up with a single thing and it WAS funny -- AND painful. But just because this guy is sitting there with his finger stuck in his nose doesn't mean Obama hasn't done anything. I bet there are some Democrats in the VA General Assembly who can't tell you anthing of substance that Obama or Hillary have done, but that doesn't mean they haven't -- you just have some uninformed Dems.

And we ARE loosened up. I'm not angry with Hillary, but I'm not terribly impressed either. She's a VERY smart woman, but she ain't getting it done right now. I would love to see her replace Harry "Orville Redenbacher" Reid as Senate Majority Leader.

Why is criticism of Hillary considered "attacks" and "negative comments," but criticism of Obama is just, well . . . "criticism?"

Also, I came to this site several times last Tuesday and Wednesday after the primary, figuring I would get some great stories and comments about the VA primary. But there was nothing. In fact, the only thing I found was a short piece about R's crossing over to vote in the Dem primary. Why not some great follow-up about the Obama-Clinton battle? I realize it was a blow-out, but still, there had to be some interesting follow-up in there somewhere.

Newport News Dem, after the primary I went to the Virginia Elections web site and did a comparison of the 2000, 2004 and this election. After running pages of numbers it was apparent to me that at least 23% of the VA republicans crossed the line and voted for Obama (against Hillary).
Nowhere in the Obamamania is there discussions of the right wingers helping get Obama over the top in the open primary states. That has to a a big (not only) factor is some of these wins (or at least margin of victory)

I know several friends and family members who took pleasure in voting against HRC (by voting for Obama) in the VA primary. To a person, they would not vote for a Democrat in the fall even it was Jesus Christ. At believe 10% of WI voters were GOP right wingers and most were probably voting in the Dem primary just as I described above. And before Obama supporters start screaming at me with the false claim that I am diminishing Obama, I am not. I just think that is a factor no one is discussing.

PVD, I appreciate your words. I left the JJ in Richmond as one PO'd democrat because I spent far too much time fighting with Obama supporters who were going taking their ball and going home if he failed to prevail. Took some of the fun our of the weekend and keeps me from visiting Kos and RK at least until our little kerfuffle is settled.

And- our focus for the Fall shouldl be:

A Democratic President

Then I can call it an early Christmas :-)

Let's not forget, ther ARE other races and we need to support our Congressional candidates too!

I can't believe you guys. The surrogate couldn't come up with a single thing that Obama had done. But instead of offering up what he has done, the only thing y'all can come up with is attacks on Hillary. Jeesh!

Except you proudvadem - and I appreciate that.

The video is funny, and if y'all would learn to loosen up a bit, you'd see that, too.

As for my congrats to Obama - well, when Hillary was winning, not a single pro-Obama blog offered anything close to congrats. In fact, the only thing that was said was like these negative comments here.

Let's name some of Hillary's accomplishments: a) the flag burning amendment; b) vote for the execrable "bankruptcy reform" law; c) voted for the Patriot Act; d) voted FOR the Iraq war.

Not exactly a great legacy from my point of view. I keep hearing about her experience, but an awful lot of it was as an attorney (just like Obama), and a first lady (largely ceremonial and fraught with defeats on things like the health care bill).

I think she's very smart and capable, but find no support for this fantasy that she has vast amounts of experience superior to Obama's. He's got far more legislative experience, albeit on a state level, and she's made a lot of choices in her votes that make me cringe. Plus, she's got that giant Billstone around her neck. That could sink anyone.

Meatloaf,
I've got to disagree. HRC does have a distinguished record of public service. She's worked tireless with the Children's Defense fund, served on several board and committees and was a successful attorney in her own right.
She's worked across the aisle with fellow Senators on many Domestic bills as well.

Campaigns only have so much control over their surrogates. He wasn't as prepared as Congresswoman Tubbs was. Does that mean Obama hasn't accomplished anything? No way. I've worked on races that had surrogates choke up before, it's nothing new. This just happened to be on Matthew's show.

That's right, like NGC I was also wondering if I missed the congratulatory post on VA, MD, DC, WI, HI, and any others. :-)
This is a DEMOCRAT not a GOP and we need to cheer him on. We also need to be elated that we have had several top notch candidates (Richardson, Edwards, Dodd) in this race and we have some wonderful Democratic leaders.
As for HRC, she is an amazing, remarkable Senator who has provided a great service to this country and she needs to be thanked. If she doesnt win the nomination, she will make a hell of a majority leader. Maybe even secretary of Labor?

Get out the jam . . . she's toast. That guy was a poor spokesperson to have on there for Obama, no question. But ask any number of people what major legislation SHE has sponsored and see how many of them can answer. Not saying she hasn't -- just that most people can't tell you.

More importantly, what the hell is she talking about when she blathers on about how she is the only one who has the "experience" and is prepared to be "Commander-in-Chief" on Day One? How is that? She has served one full term in the Senate, and the rest of her "35 years of experience" is based on being First Lady of Arkansas and the US. This makes her ready to be Commander-in-Chief?

If she means it when she says we need someone with the experience and knowledge, then she should sit down and let's have a "Biden-Richardson" ticket, both of whom have more experience than she will ever think about having.

I like the lady and respect her, and I think she has the chance to be one of the "Lions of the Senate," much like Ted Kennedy and Bob Dole. But she just can't convince people she is a leader, because she isn't. She can't sell what she is saying -- which changes every 3-4 days. The people running her campaign -- especially Penn and that nauseating Wolfson -- should be taken out back and shot. This team was supposed to be the creme de la creme, but turned out to be crap de la crap.
