Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

According to today’s Gallup poll, 28% of Clinton backers would vote for John McCain if Obama is the nominee and 19% of Obama backers would vote for McCain if Clinton is the nominee.

Start practicing now: President John McCain.

Then again, maybe I’m just sleep deprived. Those damn snipers keep me up so late!

  2. No, no, no, no.

But this ought to be a warning out there to these petty feebs who confuse governing this country with sports-team-like loyalty. If you support Obama or Hillary as a result of their position on the issues, either of them will satisfy 95% of your concerns. If you’re so goddamn dumb that you think McCain could possibly represent a better choice than one of them, well . . . thanks for playing, please find another hobby.

  3. Vivian,

Maybe those responses may have more to do with gaming the polls than they do with how people will actually feel down the road, when it comes time to vote.

However, when Hillary Clinton suggests she and McCain have crossed the presidential leadership “threshold” she has conjured up — whatever that is — and Obama has not, it certainly doesn’t help party unity.

When Clinton instructs Obama on what church his family should attend, she goes way too far for a player who cares much about the best interests of the Democratic Party.

When has any candidate ever done such a thing?

Clinton’s “kitchen sink” strategy is not about helping the Democratic Party.

  4. Terry – I think your response speaks volumes as to why supporters of both candidates are looking at supporting McCain.

  5. Personally, Gallup is not the polling company it used to be, very right wing.
I don’t know anyone who would vote for mccain if hillary does not win.
this thing will work itself out.

  6. Well, Vivan, you did a nice piece on Obama’s lie about the Rev. Wright. Are you now going to do a similar post on Hillary’s lie about landing under sniper fire?

  8. When people figure out that both Clinton and Obama lie like dogs and are as crooked as a dog’s hind leg (and have as much experience as Millie), McCain will win in a cakewalk.

  9. Because McCain’s got a lock on honesty and integrity. Heh. Tell us another one.

  10. Relative to Clinton and Obama, yes. All in all, I’d still rather have Richardson, even over McCain.

  11. linda b – no, I’m not going to support McCain.

  12. Can the delegates extricate themselves from this group craniorectal inversion and nominate Richardson?

  14. If Hillary does not get the nomination this time, she will see to it that Obama loses to McCain so she can run again in four years.

If Hillary gets the nomination, and Obama is denied, the Democrats will implode.

Either way, McCain wins, which I don’t see as that much better than either of the socialist Democrats.

So, I and my fellow Libertarians are going to just sit back with a case of beer this year and watch the train wreck. I have no idea how anyone can fix this mess at this point.
