2008 Presidential Race, Hillary Clinton, National, Politics

Statement from Robert Kennedy Jr.

Robert Kennedy Jr. issued the following statement this evening:

“It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband’s 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense.”

Can we move on now?

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. It’s so fun to watch you dems argue with each other!

  2. Alice: Yes, I was in Virginia in 1985 and remember Wilder’s run for Lt. Governor then and his run for Governor in 1989. Barack Obama is not Doug Wilder. Wilder has and continues to sell himself as something between a Democrat and a Republican. Depending on the weather, he can appear more Republican than John McCain. Does Obama have the same appeal in the Old Dominion?

rlewis: Repubs are all fonkin’ lemmings…nothing for them to argue about except how fast to follow the guy in front.

  3. NNDEM,
Congratulations on your 1-0 victory over the Hokies. June 3rd. The debate ends and the campaign begins. The blogs will change their makeup and will then concentrate on destroying McBush. NNDEM I expect complete loyalty when this all ends as I would give it to you if the situation were reversed. By the way your expense account will not allow for how many alcoholic drinks you will owe me.

  4. “The danger is that, in their headlong rush to stop the first major female candidate (aka “Hildebeast” and “Hitlery” ) from becoming president, the punditocracy may have landed the Democrats with perhaps the least qualified presidential nominee ever.”

  5. Thank you for sharing this! I’m so over the drama since the news broke yesterday!

  6. Well I would think that if anyone should have been offended by Hillary’s remark it would be Robert Kennedy Jr. Obviously, he is not offended.

This is just totally stupid, in my opinion, and I’m embarrassed – yes, embarrassed – that supposedly intelligent and irrational beings saw Hillary’s remark as an attempt to insinuate that Obama would be assassinated or anything of the sort.

    Talk about IDIOTS!

I am no Hillary fan (I favor no candidate, but Obama’s personal choices in who he hangs out with and who he looks up to as mentors and role models scares me). In fact, I have intensely disliked the Clintons for a long time. However, this whole thing is obviously a media ploy to do everything possible to make Hillary look bad compared to Obama.

What happened to the media darling back in the day? Oh, she could do no wrong, she was the bright and shining star – oh, how thou has fallen, oh shining one…lol

Use your brains people – but that’s becoming more and more difficult as we consume the junk food presented to us by the media. Not only are we as a nation becoming fat and lazy physically, we are becoming inept at thinking for ourselves as well.

  7. I don’t participate in many political discussions. But, Karen I don’t believe they’re idiots. They’re drama queens who blame Hillary for the sad state which the Democratic party is in, right now. I really am glad I found this post. I found myself very disillusioned with bloggers who I usually enjoy visiting. The level of anger and vitriol was ridiculous, and way out of proportion to the situation, IMHO.

  8. Gosh, my feelings are hurt proud. How can I go on?

The only train about to leave is the one heading over the electoral college cliff in November thanks to you and the other character assassins in the Obamanation. Enjoy the ride, hello President McBush, unless HRC and the unpledged can stop it.

Wow, insulting Howling Latina, another democrat. Seems that makes you just another hypocrite with your earlier entreaties of not speaking ill towards another D. At least that explains why you are in the tank for BO. Birds of a feather.

  9. For a navel-gazing statement on this “controversy,” check out this story from Politico. The money quote:

But Clinton’s clumsiness does not excuse news media clumsiness in making a minor story seem like a major one.

  10. It wasn´t offensive. But it was funny. This prolonged primary is a bless for humorists.
