Can anyone PLEASE tell me what the rules/bylaws for a roll call vote are??

I say NO DEAL to the roll call vote for Hillary Clinton that would be a 'symbolic jesture'. Isn't the roll call vote supposed to stand for whomever wins according to rule/law?

The DNC is making a mockery of democracy. This means WAR for equal rights/civil rights/human rights/voter's rights!!

Newport News Dem,

What about the theory that HRC has that not one popular vote should count for Obama. ARe you ready to say on this blog that he would not have received one vote out of that state. Not in Detroit, not in Grand Rapids, not in Ann Arbor, no where in the state. HRC reps sat on national TV and said that they disagreed with the Michigan Democratic Committee, that they were entitled to everything in Michigan even though MS. HRC said the state would not count and even agreed to that ruling. the height of hypocrisy in my book. Now she wants, wants , wants while indicating she is willing to disenfranchise every voter in the other 48 states. Plain and simple as I have indicated before HRC has only herself to blame by not looking in a rearview mirror and seeing that she (the annointed one) actually had competition. Ickes, McCauliffe, and her husband should all be fired for a very lackluster performance. Actually a very stupid campaign staff this election year for HRC. I really thought at the beginning that she had put together an incredible team, but as I look back all she had was a bunch of Dem insiders that knew nothing about grassroot campaigns or even cared about people at our level of the political spectrum. they were the powerful, the insiders, the not to be touched speakers for our party. Well I say they got what they deserved, a loss. If Obama is the weakest candidate since McGovern, then it is what it is. I doubt that statement is even close to accurate, however if that is the way you feel then so be it. You actually should have taken my stand and not taken such an aggressive attitude towards the race however, you just can not forgive what happened to you in Richmond at the JJ where you could have easily walked away from the Obama agressiveness and probably unnecessary statements.
Both camps have committed big sins. Some of the Obama people were extremely aggressive and some of the HRC people were extremely irrational and also thought they were not to be opposed. HRC pullled a Michigan as I have said and overlooked Appalachian State. P.S. go have a cold one .

How many times and ways can we screw the Florida voters? First in the last Presidential election, and now this. Certainly not very "democratic" in any
sense. Shame! Shame! Shame! They had a chance to do the right thing.
OK they paid reverence to the "rules", but in the end they lost sight of
the big picture. All votes should count fully! This matter is far from settled.
It just got worse. My half vote just might stay home this election!
Sign me "a dis-allusioned "d".

That Michigan "solution" was utter BS and resembles Soviet style politburo politics, whether in the open or behind closed doors. How dare they steal delegates from HRC and GIVE not only her delegates to BO, but use some heavenly powers to decide what 600k voters meant to do and GIVE BO delegates he did not win. This is patently wrong and totally undemocratic and an absolute embarrassment. Kumbaya and a "new" type of politics is now for all to see utter hypocrisy! I the "ball" is in HRC's court, BO would steal it!

I stand with the people of MI and their proper battle to take on the process that anoints NH with special privileges no other states enjoys.

We are about to nominate the weakest GE nominee since McGovern, the last one who received less votes and "won".

Now that this is settled regardless of Ickes statement we Democrats have an election to be won. The ball is in HRC's court now. she can take it to the convention wasting valuable time or she can try to win over 85% of the remaining superdelegates. those are her options. I thought the coverage was great and witnessed an event that obviously the Republicans would never have had open to the public. The bar is now 2118. One thing I did take from this coverage was that the Clinton political machine does not rule the Democratic Party.

Back from an event - more on that later.

Got back in time for the vote on FL: seat entire delegation with 1/2 votes for all of the delegates, including the supers, delegate allocation based on the vote.

VA's own Mame Reilly made the motion on MI to seat the entire delegation, including the supers, with 1/2 vote.

Delegates are to be allocated 69 Clinton, 59 Obama (times 50%).

Ickes disagrees that taking the 4 delegates from Clinton, plus the allocation of uncommitted delegates to Obama.

Ickes reserved the right on behalf of Clinton to take this to the credentials committee.

Watching some of it, and I don't know what the outcome will be. But I hope everyone can come to an amicable conclusion so that we can move past this.

I couldn't agree more with Kevin. It seems that the chairperson could have brought better order to session. I don't have a problem with supporters being there. But they should keep quiet and respect the proceedings. The audience participation is not helpful, IMHO.

I agree on the audience "participation," which actually got worse as the hearing went on. I think they should have broken it up and heard the two challenges separately.

Lunch break now, reconvene at 4:15pm EST

The way this meeting is being conducted is absolutely horrible. There should be no applause, cheering, or booing. We are determining process in which to select a nominee. We are not at a sporting event.

Now speaking is David Bonior, former House Majority Whip, presenting on behalf of the Obama campaign. Discusses why Obama took his name off the ballot. Wants the delegates split evenly between the two campaigns. (Unless I missed it, this argument was not made in the case of FL.)

Definitely political theater, at least now. But that's what I expected. I will say this, though. Ausman's FL challenge presentation wasn't political at all.

Well, we can put reordering in line with verified voting. Prediction: the line will move just as fast as it's been moving.

(I'm listening. There's some interesting stuff (say, the Levin testimony), but for the most part it strikes me as pretty transparent political theater. And lately, political theater has made me want to shove a screwdriver through my ear every time I hear it.)

Levin did a good job about the IA/NH issues and the fight for fairness for other states ... in 2012 Virginia should at least have a chance to be able to hold the first in the nation Democratic primary

Levin makes the point that all parties - MIDP, Clinton & Obama - want the delegation seated at 100%. The disagreement is over the delegate allocation.

Thanks, Shawn. I'm watching it on CSPAN (no commentary :) )

Senator Carl Levin is now speaking on behalf of the MIDP. Wants full seating.

Prediction:

Michigan 69/59. Might cut this in half, but unsure.
Florida: All delegates seated, each given only a half vote. Not sure about Superdelegates, but expect them to be given full votes.

Challenger for MI is the MIDP. State party chair & RBC member Mark Brewer presented on behalf of the party. Proposal: seat the entire delegation @ full strength and allocate 69 delegates to Clinton & 59 to Obama.

Moving on to hearing the MI challenge. They want to hear this before they break for lunch and then will have the deliberations after lunch. Seems that they do not expect that the MI challenge will take as long.

Congressman Robert Wexler speaking on behalf of the Obama campaign. Argues that the campaigns believed that primary would not count and that this was not a complete primary. However, supports the Ausman petition to award 50% of the delegates. But want the SDs to be awarded half votes as well.

FL State Senator Arthenia Joyner speaking on behalf of the Clinton campaign. Powerful speaker, gave background on how the FL Democrats in the legislature had to vote for a paper-verified voting trail bill to which the move up of the date of the primary was attached.

FL challenge filed by Jon Ausman:
1. Assertion that the DP charter requires DNC members automatically be delegates and
2. Timing of primary can only result in 50% reduction in the pledged delegates

There has to be some punishment otherwise 2012 will be chaotic to say the least!
