2008 Presidential Race, Hillary Clinton, National, Politics

MT/SD open thread

The primary season, which feels like it started two years ago, will be coming to an end this evening. My candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton, will be making a speech in NY, the content of which is unknown. Earlier in the day, the AP reported she would concede tonight but campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe says not so. What do you think Clinton will do?

Poll closes at 9pm

The other thing that has been bandied around is Clinton’s willingness to serve as Obama’s VP, should it be offered. So what do you think? Should Obama select Clinton as his running mate?

I’m going to leave this poll open for a while.

Consider this an open thread.

UPDATE 9:24pm: Both NBC and CNN call SD for Hillary

UPDATE 10:01pm: Both NBC and CNN call MT for Obama.

UPDATE 11:42pm: Message from Hillary below the fold.

Hillary for President

Dear Vivian,

Over the course of this campaign, I have seen the promise of America in your courage and character, your energy and ingenuity, and your compassion and faith.

Your spirit has inspired me every day in this race. While I traveled this country talking about how I wanted to help you — time and again, you reached out to help me. To grab my hand or grip my arm, to look me in my eyes and tell me, don’t quit, keep fighting, stay in this race for us. There were days when I had strength enough for the both of us — and on the days I didn’t, I leaned on you.

This has always been your campaign, and tonight, there’s no one I want to hear from more than you. I hope you’re as proud as I am of what we’ve done and that you’ll take a moment to share your thoughts with me now at my website.

I want to congratulate Senator Obama and his supporters on the extraordinary race that they have run. Senator Obama has inspired so many Americans to care about politics and empowered so many more to get involved, and our party and our democracy are stronger and more vibrant as a result.

Whatever path I travel next, I promise I will keep faith with you and everyone I have met across this good and great country. There is no possible way to thank you enough for everything you have done throughout this primary season, and you will always be in my heart.

Sincerely,
Hillary
Hillary Rodham Clinton

  1. Obama takes Montana according to NBC News.

  2. including Virginia’s own Del. Lionell Spruill.

He got an all-expenses paid trip out of it. What makes him so special, vjp?

  3. What makes him special is how hard he has worked on behalf of Clinton.

  7. It is both accurate and gracious.

  8. You didn’t do that because of me or Senator Clinton or anyone else. You did it because you know in your hearts that at this moment — a moment that will define a generation — we cannot afford to keep doing what we’ve been doing. We owe our children a better future. We owe our country a better future.

    Exactly.

  9. Dog gone it, the link sent me to the character assassin site at the orange stain…give a link alerts so my browser is not spoiled and gives a site hit to the merchants of hate.

  11. Now it’s time to support the nominee.
It’s time to get to work and look forward to a Democratic White House, Senate and Congress!

Go Obama! Go Mark Warner! Go Glenn Nye!

    Here’s the link:

“Update [2008-6-3 21:58:25 by Josh Orton]: A few minutes before Hillary began her speech, Lanny Davis told reporters in the hallway outside the gym that at midnight he’d be launching a petition drive to support a letter urging Obama to take Clinton as his VP. He said he’s doing it on his own with two of Hillary’s female supporters”

This could be a good thing.

  14. Newport News Dem,

clearly you have ripped a few cold ones tonight – merchants of hate? That is simply out of character for you and you know your supporters clearly love you. Boy i hope Michigas Wolverines do not lose to another Div. 2 team this year or you might have to take a jump off that high balcony. By the way just reported Obama now has over 2219, making MI. and Fl. irrelevant.

  15. MB…

On a serious note, too bad you guys don’t get this simple concept. We live in a free society and make our choices.

It is not HATE on my part to freely choose to not visit the web sites, TV shows and radio shows that, IMHO, have been character assassin to HRC, purveyors of race baiting politics and merchants of hate. It is a choice, not hate.

Let see if this will help. You don’t enjoy pornography, might I suggest you don’t frequent XXX theaters! These folks are dead to me because of their actions, not mine.

On a non-serious note, the comment was also tongue in cheek and VJP apparently understood that!
