Check out www.BeatTheGridlock.com. There's a must-see video on the homepage (script is on "Links" page).

As a "citizen warrior" myself, the here-we-go-again, round-and-round nature of the transportation issue (upcoming General Assembly Special Session on Mon Jun 23) isn't going to capture the attention of reporters or legislators at this point. Only a people-driven campaign will get some action.

There's no advocating a position or partisanship. Simply trying to get SOMEthing done and enabling Virginians, all across the Commonwealth, to have one rallying cry…. BeatTheGridlock and Fix it Now!

Pass it on and help make a difference!

If you take time to really know the man, like I know John Miller one would realize he is truly in this business for the people. He realizes he can not please everyone, however he also realizes that he will give all to try and get a common sense approach to the people's needs without all the political jockeying. Few people I have met are of the charater of Senator john Miller

It's all well and good to listen to one's constituents; unfortunately, many of them are ignoramuses.

On the issue of transportation, and where the state should allocate funds, the delegates in the Tidewater and Northern Virginia regions hear nothing more than, "My commute is getting longer and longer, and you're spending money widening I-81 and I-64 west of Richmond!"

What theese constituents do not understand is that the goods going in and out of the Norfolk port is trucked to the Virginia Inland Port in Front Royal, right off I-81, and put on rail cars for shipment to Norfolk. If money were diverted from I-81 projects to widen I-64 between Richmond and Norfolk, much of that truck traffic would just go straight to Norfolk. Trust me, you don't want all those trucks on I-64 and going over the HRBT.

Northern Virginia has similar issues. If the trucks coming in and out of NoVa get backed up in the remoter parts of the state, the prices of all the region's imports go up.

Let me clarify my last statement. I think a lot of our reps start out with good and honorable intentions, but over time can get "sucked in" to the bs of politics until the good intentions they once had to work with and for the people goes out the window. To Mr. Miller I say, "stay strong" and don't let others detract you from the good and honorable.

Your right, Vivian, it is a novel idea, and one that more of our city and state reps need to act on. We need more people in office like John Miller. Now let's hope and pray he keeps that kind of mind set and doesn't get sucked in and corrupted like so many others do. :-)
