I started this blog to talk about local politics, specifically Norfolk politics. It is impossible
to talk about Norfolk in a vacuum, so you'll also find some regional, state, and national politics. And sometimes, no politics at all.
The inspiration for this blog comes from one of Virginia's most respected forefathers:
"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power."
Thomas Jefferson, 1820

Everything’s more expensive up here. Similar event next week in Alexandra? $75 to get you in the door
Another reason to move to Hampton Roads
Wait, I have to go check the profanity thread before I can respond appropriately . . .
The pay’s higher in NoVa, too.
I wonder, though, if Brian et al will actually make it out of Richmond with this special session continuing on. Howell has them “ordered” back at 5:00pm today. I really wouldn’t put it past him, knowing about this planned event, to deliberately do the same thing again tomorrow. I’m already RSVP’ed to attend anyway but I’d otherwise miss Brian’s smiling face. Although it would be great fun to get together anyway to plot Repugs’ demise in 2009.
Democrats are so bipartisan….
By the way, “House adjourned at 5:07 p.m. to meet Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. “
Well, if today was any indication, that means adjournment at 4:07pm Wednesday
Plenty of time for Brian and the crew to make it to Virginia Beach
If that’s true, there really isn’t a transportation crisis.
When I lived in Richmond, it usually took me about 90 minutes to drive the 100 some odd miles from there to Virginia Beach…but then again I always left after 8 pm so I didn’t have to hit rush hour traffic anywhere.
