National Ride (a motorcycle) to Work Day

Did you know today was National Ride to Work Day? Yep. There is an organization out there that encourages people to ride motorcycles and scooters.

Of course, if I was going to ride a motorcycle to work, it would have to be my all-time favorite bike – The V-Max :) I remember when this bike was released back in 2005. It had 145hp – more than a lot of cars. I think I read that the new one to be released in 2009 (pictured here) will have 200 hp.

The need for speed – the V-Max certainly fits the bill :)

(Somehow, I don’t think they had this bike in mind for National Ride to Work Day.)

  1. Gah!

(Well, okay. There is a motorcycle in my stable. But still.)

  2. What’s wrong with the V-Max?

  3. Nothing’s wrong with a V-Max*, I’m just busy pushing my purity agenda. Bike to Work!
    :)

*tho’ if I were picking out a bike for free, I’d probably settle on this one.

  5. Vivian–if you quit smoking and promise to wear a helmet, I’ll get them to let you ride a motorcycle between homes the next time you go canvassing; biking > smoking. ;-)

  6. Is there a cup-holder on that bad-boy for my beer? ;-)

  7. Hey – I always wear a helmet, and not the “brain-bucket” kind, either. Of course, one thing you pretty much can’t do is ride a motorcycle and smoke. At least I haven’t figured out how :(

No one needs a cup-holder on a bike, although I’m sure some of them come with it. I haven’t ridden much in the last few years (except occasionally riding my scooter around the yard), but I did ride a friend’s bike on July 4th. Fun ;)

  8. Well, come on then, what do you ride?

  9. I only have a little Honda scooter that I ride around the backyard these days – and then only rarely. I haven’t owned a bike in a number of years – last one being a Yamaha 400.

What do you have in your stable, MB?

  10. One of these (mine’s red). Inherited it from a friend who moved overseas. Kinda small for me, but hey, when it’s free . . .

I just got back from the local moto shop and saw one of these. Very nice.

  11. Too funny. That is almost the exact same bike I had :) And my partner & I had a matching pair – one red, one black ;)

  12. The Vmax has been in production since 1985 and has 135 hp. The Vmax in the picture is a new design for 2009 (200 hp) and has not been released yet.
