The Jib-Jab thing is awesome and all but the Kansas website potentially represents the first time in human history that anyone’s ever made a campaign contribution based on a comic strip drawn with stick figures.
(for those of you who aren’t familiar with http://www.xkcd.com, it’s a local product, sort of; the guy who runs the strips is a science-y guy who works (worked?) for NASA in Hampton, so it’s fun to see that nerds in Kansas are as fascinated with it as nerds in Virginia ).

GEEZ. I just got to the bottom of his website with his current number of donors. 4,000 individual donors for a Kansas State Rep race? That’s fraking impressive.
I learned a lot about politics as the result of my run for City
Treasurer. This blog is my way of staying in touch with those who supported me and reaching out to those who did not.
The primary focus of this blog is Norfolk politics. Of course, you can't talk about Norfolk in a vacuum, so sprinkled in are some regional, state, and national politics. And sometimes, no politics at all.
The inspiration for this blog comes from one of Virginia's most respected forefathers:
"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power."

Funny, anonymous, I did drop a few in the jar for that strip, too.
