WELCOME
I learned a lot about politics as the result of my run for City
Treasurer. This blog is my way of staying in touch with those who supported me and reaching out to those who did not.
The primary focus of this blog is Norfolk politics. Of course, you can't talk about Norfolk in a vacuum, so sprinkled in are some regional, state, and national politics. And sometimes, no politics at all.
The inspiration for this blog comes from one of Virginia's most respected forefathers:
"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. I was only able to remember 50, I still can’t think of the other 7.
I’ll see if they are on Obama’s web site.
Damn it! Nevada and Kansas. Been to the former once; flown over the latter more times than I can count. 48 in about 4 1/2 minutes… and 5 1/2 minutes failing to remember that weekend in Vegas or that rectangularish one in the middle.
I got 48. I forgot Hawaii and Alaska because I’m looking at a map without them on it. Oops. Hehe Oh well..
