Vivian, Thank you for sharing Stephanie Tubbs Jones speech. I'm sad that she is gone. I met you at the roundtable and signed up for your daily messages. I 've come to depend on your take about local politics and consider you a friend.

May she rest in peace. She was a wonderful advocate for her constituents and a pioneer.

sj has it right. I had to privilege of knowing Steph for quite a few years. We did NOT agree politically but she was the dynamo powerhouse your readers are going to hear about. I was proud to call her my friend. Steph was NOT the "consummate politician..." she was quite simply an honest, honorable representative of her constituency. She took what we as Blacks have an inate understanding of... Black woman are the cornerstone of many Black churches. She took that same strength of will and purpose from her local church and brought it to Capitol Hill. She was my friend and she will be missed.

What a dynamic woman. I had the pleasure to meet her on a couple of occasions. She left such a positive, upbeat impression with me, that I truly admired and respected her. She was such a good friend to the Clintons, and I know this is a blow to them. Congresswoman Tubb-Jones was a true roll model for women and she will sadly be missed.
