Terrie Suit to resign

PilotOnline is reporting that Del. Terrie Suit is going to resign from the General Assembly. The article says that she is planning to become a lobbyist.

Bearing Drift is reporting that Suit wants to return to private life.

The resignation opens up the seat in the 81st district, which Suit won in 1999 over former delegate Glenn Croshaw. It will be interesting to see who steps forward to run.

UPDATE: The Washington Post says the resignation will be effective 10/12.

UPDATE2: The Pilot has updated its story at the link above with more details. Also, Suit’s letter is available here.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. I read the Bearing Drift article. (Perhaps I should comment there, but I do not frequent that site often.) I do not buy the explanation. She knew when she ran last November that her husband would be retiring, did she not?

  2. Two quick corrections:
First, in the headline you have Del. Suit’s first name misspelled as Terry; it should be Terrie (it is correct in the body of your post).
Second, the former Delegate from the 81st District’s first name is Glenn (not Glen) and surname is Croshaw (not Crowshaw).
    Thanks.

  4. At lunch yesterday, I was discussing this with someone who pointed out that Terrie Suit works in the mortgage business, which isn’t exactly a happy, secure environment right now. He wondered how much that factored into her decision.
