Silver Diner Blueplate ’08: cast your vote

The folks over at Silver Diner are allowing folks to cast their votes early for the Presidential election by buying an omelette. From the press release:

By selecting either the Chicago-style “Obamalette” or the Southwestern-style “McCainlette” from the restaurant’s all-day breakfast menu, Silver Diner is giving guests the chance to predict the winner of the November 4 election.
The “polls” open at each of Silver Diner’s 15 Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey locations on Tuesday, September 30.  Hampton Roads participating restaurants are in Chesapeake, Newport News and Virginia Beach.

“Everyone likes to make their opinions known – especially during election season,” explains Ype Von Hengst, Co-Founder and Vice President of Culinary Operations for Silver Diner.  “The winner of Blueplate ’08 will be chosen by how much our guests eat, so visit Silver Diner to vote early – and often!”

Here are the omelettes and their ingredients (Obamalette is on the left; McCainlette is on the right).

A couple of photos from this morning’s event in Virginia Beach.

  1. The Youngs eat there regularly.

I find neither one very appetizing.

  2. What! No moose breakfast steaks on the McCainlette!!! Guess Sarah is too busy trying to get Biden in her crosshairs…

  3. Tellingly, the ingredients of the two omelets are remarkably similar.
