Local, Politics, Virginia

Three hours

That was how long I had to wait this morning in order to vote absentee. When I arrived, the line had wrapped around each side of the hallway, with the third part of it in the middle. By the time I left, it had thinned out a bit. I understand that folks starting lining up around 6am this morning. Here’s a bit of video.

Talking to some of the people in line, I reminded them that the presidential race was not the only one on the ballot. (This would have been a great opportunity for the campaigns, by the way, to pass out some lit.) Once we finally made it upstairs to the 8th floor, the person who ushered us up – Paulette Benson, a former candidate herself – reminded them of the same thing. I was glad to hear her tell folks “All Politics is Local.”

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
