Drake concedes

Thelma Drake has conceded to Glenn Nye.

Drake released a statement after partial absentee ballot returns late Thursday gave Democrat Glenn Nye a more commanding lead.

Nye garnered about 4,000 more absentee votes than Drake. About 600 absentee ballots remained to be counted due to a counting machine malfuction.

In a news release, Drake congratulated Nye on his victory and thanked her supporters and the people of the 2nd District.

“I felt strongly that all votes needed to be counted. Some voters waited in line for hours to vote early and many of the brave men and women serving our country sent absentee ballots from places like Iraq and Afghanistan. …Those ballots have been counted and the voters have decided.”

Congratulations (again) to Glenn!

(Will Virgil Goode be next?)

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
