And he’s not going to ask for a pardon, either.
Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens has lost his bid for a seventh term. The longest-serving Republican in the history of the Senate trailed Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich by 3,724 votes after Tuesday’s count. That’s an insurmountable lead with only about 2,500 overseas ballots left to be counted.
Good riddance.
So, no Senate seat for Palin this round, eh? Darn, and I was so looking forward to her being involved in national politics. The floor speeches alone would have been riveting!
…and now I’m going to remove my tongue from my cheek. There’s hope for Alaska yet!

Posted by sj | Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 2:26 pmHeh, the last two words of your post are the same as the first two of one of Michelle Malkin’s headlines.
Between this and the move of the Naval vessels, I imagine Virginia isn’t the only place seeing snow recently.
Posted by CR UVa | Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 5:53 pmNO! No! Sarah…but…damnit. I *knew* I should have made Eric take a monetary bet on if she’d put herself in the Senate. Knew. It.
Sincerely, I’m torn. I do a great Sarah Palin impression, but I don’t want her being in charge of moose hunting expedition, let alone the gov’t, except I’d love to run into her in DC. Gah.

Posted by Anon E. Mouse | Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:01 pmDon Young was also elected. In fact, of the big pork crowd Stevens is the exception: almost all of them got reelected.
