Donated food must be sorted through which requires intensive labor. Donated money allows the food bank to purchase food by the truckload which does not require sorting. While I am sure that all donations are gratefully accepted, you'll get more bang for your buck by donating the cash. I have hauled freight to food banks. From what I have seen, my truckload of food gets into the hands of those who need it much more quickly then the pallets of food that still need to be sorted out before being distributed. linda b,
