HRBT public hearing Wednesday

A public hearing will be held Wednesday, December 10, at Granby High School to review the ideas for expansion of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel beginning at 6pm. Tuesday, the Norfolk City Council passed a non-binding referendum opposing all of the options in the study.

The Daily Press editorial board weighed in on this issue Sunday, calling the discussion of the options a “healthy civic exercise.” Nonetheless, the board concludes:

As an economic fact, though, jobs and future prosperity are likely to trump commuting ease when it comes to picking which road projects come first.

Shorter DP: um, HRBT expansion ain’t happening.
