Many Republicans I have spoken have that fear in their eyes about Deeds. They can see a repeat out west in the fashion of Tom Periello in reaching a broader range of voters. While it would not surprise me to see Moran and Terry fight it out hard, Deeds may come off as the softer and easier to get behind choice. Alot can change in almost year, heck 2007/8 proved that. I like the fact that Deeds has the average Republican worried; that means he appeals to more than just the base like Moran and remember alot of those moderate Republicans voted for Warner if you recall, in more than one election cycle by the way. Can Moran win them over as well?

Should we be shocked that Arlington is lining up to support and line the coffers of Moran? I think not. Arlington is far more liberal than many other localities even in NOVA by far. We should have not had any visions of Arlington officials leaning Deeds, which I believe makes a great case for Deeds in Western Virginia, Piedmont and Central Virginia as well as out your way Viv. Deeds speaks to these people on so mnay different levels than Moran and Deeds can even win over Independent and fiscal conservatives disillusioned by the State GOP. Moran can not (it seems so far) deliver that on either score.
