Newport News sheriff to run as a Democrat

Word has come that Newport News Sheriff Gabriel Morgan has joined the Newport News City Democratic Committee and will run as a Democrat. Morgan was first elected in 2005 as a Republican but resigned from the party last year.

No word yet on whether there will be any other candidates for this position.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. Welcome to your natural home, Sheriff Morgan.

Jim Webb has opened the floodgates of Virginians coming home to the Democratic Party!

  2. That is a shame. I donated to his campaign in 2005.

Reminds me of a few other Republicans that folded because it’s easier to be a Democrat in downtown Norfolk.

One time move to hold that $100,000+ per year job. No turning back if Bob McDonnell gets elected.

Politics aside, always thought Gabe & Gloria Morgan are good people.

  3. So?

What is really the difference between Republicans and Democrats these days anyway?

They stopped having significantly different principles decades ago and now its just Coke vs Pepsi.
