Stolle running for VB sheriff, to face Bell

The Virginian-Pilot confirms today that State Senator Ken Stolle will run for sheriff.  Also in that story is the disclosure that Stolle, 54, has been battling Parkinson’s disease for three years.

Last night, I had the opportunity to meet John Bell, who is also running for sheriff.  Bell is currently a senior captain on the Virginia Beach police force, an organization he joined in 1976.

This should be an interesting race.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  3. Question…would a police officer or sheriff deputy be able to serve if it was known they had parkinsons?

    • No idea. But probably not.

      • Vivian – as a police officer, I am concerned that you are making assumptions when you don’t know what you are talking about. The law enforcement community has Stolle’s back. Bell has done nothing to help us besides furthering his own career.

  4. Didn’t I read in the VP a few months ago that Stolle was stricken with an incurable, progressive disease and dropped out of the Senate? Sooo, he thinks he can take over the strenuous job of our local Sheriff? Get real. I wish him well but VB citizen’s need and deserve a full-time Sheriff.

  5. Now who is assuming? No one said Stolle was unfit to serve. The question was would it disqualify a police officer or sheriff’s deputy. And I clearly said “I don’t know.”

  6. Lets not worry about the disease, thats god given and there is noyhing we can do about it. I wish Mr. Stolle the best. Let look at some comments from the other web sites. 1. Chief Deputy Schuste had police cometo his house twice for domestic assault, Unbelievable! Hopefully his wife called he police, the inmates can’t. My question is Why is he still there and why is Mr. Stolle accepting his backing? This tells a sory about integrity and trust. Lets look into real issues!
