Frederick decision today

Republicans are meeting today to decide the fate of their chairman, Del. Jeff Frederick.  Bearing Drift is live blogging the proceedings. I understand it will literally be hours before any decision is made.

UPDATE: Frederick has been removed. The vote was 57-18. Have to say I’m surprised. I never thought it would happen.

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. Surprised? Why? Bob McDonnell is the real head of the Virginia GOP right now, and he wanted Frederick gone. If he hadn’t been able to remove an incompetent party chair, the Virginia GOP would be in serious trouble. Not that that would bother me.

  2. One vote the other way and Jeff would still be in. McDonnell didn’t show real strength today; otherwise, the vote wouldn’t have been that close.

  3. talk about close, that really gives you a feel for the unity of the republican party. I hear the Majority leader Morgan Griffith is really going to pay for supporting Frederick.

  5. There is a split in the party. McDonnell did come out heavy against Jeff Frederick. Frederick backers won’t be very forgiving.

Some conservatives will be looking for an alternative to McDonnell. I know Creigh Deeds is a bit too conservative to you but, I promise that you could pull votes from the “right” that you just couldn’t with Moran or especially outsider and DNC partisan, McAuliffe.
