American Idol, Fun stuff

American Idol 05/19/09: The finale

American Idol LogoThe two finalists for the title of American Idol each took the stage three times tonight. The first song was of their own choosing and neither Adam nor Kris disappointed. Adam, who lost the coin toss, went first with “Mad World.” Kris, sitting at the piano, did a wonderful interpretation of  “Ain’t No Sunshine.”

The second song was chosen by show creator executive producer Simon Fuller. I think he likes old R&B because he chose a Sam Cook tune (“Change is Gonna Come”) for Adam  and a Marvin Gaye one (“What’s Goin’ On”) for Kris. After this round, I’d say the two were tied, with Kris having won round 1 and Adam round 2.

The last round was an original song by judge Kara DioGuardi and a couple of other songwriters. The song, “No Boundaries,” was, to put it bluntly, horrible. Adam did OK with it, but there were so many words in the lyrics, I had a hard time understanding them – they all ran together. And why in the world didn’t they change the key for Kris? It was much too high. I have serious doubts about how well this single will sell – it was that bad.

So who do you think will win? Better yet, who do you think should win? Vote in the two polls below. (Polls close at 7:50 pm Wednesday.)

Wednesday night’s results show is going to be a long one. Don’t forget to adjust your DVR (if, like me, you watch it later so you can fast-forward through the boring parts :) )

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
