Considering that your last Friday fun pegged me as George W. Bush... ;)

I think that part of my result was due to the fact that I turned to the Friday fun as a diversion from being angry with my staff. And the more I am irritated with my staff, the more authoritative I get, and the more "Whatever, I am SO not subsidizing that and NO you should not have freedom of speech and DAMNED if you're taking my guns" I get. :)

I am a right moderate social libertarian
Right: 4.15
Libertarian: 1.13

I would be very interested to see how they score some of these questions. For instance:

2. Unions were indispensible in establishing the middle class.

Certainly, but they were also indispensable in driving our manufacturing base overseas and pricing themselves out of jobs.

6. Access to healthcare is a right.

Certainly, but so is access to a gun. That does not mean the government has to provide everyone with high-quality firearms.

14. If our leader meets with our enemies, it makes us appear weak.

That depends on the enemy. Meeting with the Soviet leaders did not make us appear weak, but meeting with Imaheadjob or Kim Mentally Ill may.

23. Immigration restrictions are economically protectionist. Non-citizens should be allowed to sell their labor domestically at a rate the market will pay.

Heck, CITIZENS are not allowed to sell their labor at a rate the market will beat, so why should immigrants be allowed to do so? This also completely avoids the illegal vs. legal immigration dichotomy.

34. Tighter regulation would have prevented the collapse of the lending industry.

It was tighter regulations on lenders that forced them to make bad loans or be prosecuted for redlining. Bush and McCain pushed for more oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the crux of the bad lending, and were rebuffed by the Democrats in Congress. Without 60 votes in the Senate, the Republicans could do nothing.

41. The state should be able to put a criminal to death if the crime was serious enough.

Yes and no. The STATE cannot sentence a criminal to death in the United States. Only a jury can do that. The state merely carries out that sentence.

50. A person's morality is between that person and God only. Government should not get involved.

That depends on whether the immoral acts affect others.

52. A nation's retirement safety net cannot be trusted to the fluctuations of the stock market.

Nations don't retire, people do. People who start investing early in life, and put that money in the stock market have always done far better than those who invested in fixed-income instruments. Furthermore, as the stock market goes, so goes the tax base.

53. Offensive or blasphemous art should be suppressed.

No, but neither should it be subsidized by the government.

Interesting site. I got: Left-2.87, Libertarian-5.34, FP-(4.08), and Culture-(7.47). When you do the comparisons though, it doesn't look like any of the combination of state & party produce noticeably different results. I thought that was odd. Since there map showed that Oregon was most libertarian, I compared the combination of party and state, but they were similar to Virginia. Go figure!
