Monday morning quarterback: another Skins loss

I’m no fair-weather Redskins fan. But these close losses are really hard to take. Last week, it was a 1-point loss to the much hated Dallas Cowboys. And yesterday, it was a 3-point loss to NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Both losses occurred due to points scored late in the game.

While I was pleased to see the Skins score three touchdowns in yesterday’s game, the fact that the Eagles were able to score not only a touchdown but a two-point conversion which tied the game really dashed my hopes of a win. I’m thinking that the defense, which has been so strong, feels the same way and actually gives up a little at the end of the game.

I don’t anticipate a close game next week. The Skins face the New Orleans Saints, who take a 10-0 record into tonight’s game against the New England Patriots (7-3).

  1. Given the number of injuries the Redskins have sustained in the secondary and the high-powered nature of the Saints’ passing attack, next week could get really ugly for you Skins fans.

  2. And to think how things could have been if we had signed Gregg Williams as head coach! His Saints are going to beat the heck out of the Skins next week….thanks Snyder…for nothing!

  3. Jason Campbell is a nice guy by all accounts. However, I just don’t think he’s the man for the Skins. Sooner or later the organization has got to make a change at that position.

    • Later. Now, they need to protect him so he has time to use his arm as God intended.

      I’ll take a run-of-the-mill quarterback with a top-notch offensive line over a super-star quarterback and a run-of-the-mill front line. Anyday.

  4. Anon:
There’s some truth in what you said. However, Campbell hasn’t proven himself goo enough to be “run-of-the-mill” yet. At this point he’s substandard. Not that I care that much, I’m a Bears and Raiders fan, so I’m happy you Skins fans are sharing my misery this year.

  6. Having been a lifelong Skins fan, it all comes back to the owner. Snyder has been the kiss-of-death for the Washington Redskins! Doesn’t matter who the coach is, or what quarterback is throwing the passes, it all comes back to the way upper management has mismanaged resources and destroyed the will to win. There will be no changes to the condition of the Skins until Snyder sells them and we get an owner who isn’t a certifiable idiot. I mean, who can mess up a 6-flags and lose money? Snyder!
