BCS championship: the halftime show

I, like a lot of folks, watched the BCS championship game last night. Not that I cared a whit about the winner – I didn’t – but just because it was one of those things that is a part of our collective consciousness.  Congrats to Alabama for their win. And congrats to Texas freshman QB Garret Gilbert who stepped into what had to be a nightmare situation for him.

Anyway – the best part of the game for me was the halftime show :) Seriously – I love marching bands. And ‘Bama picked not only one of my favorite songs but my favorite rendition of it. Here’s a live version of the Divine Miss M singing Cole Porter’s “Miss Otis Regrets.”

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. Outside of The Rose, probably my favorite Midler rendition is Empty Bed Blues ;)

  3. Odd fact. Anyone know who was Bette Midler’s piano player in the beginning?

  4. Thanks, Vivian. I have numerous recording of Miss Otis, but had never seen this video – love it!
