BCS championship: the halftime show

I, like a lot of folks, watched the BCS championship game last night. Not that I cared a whit about the winner – I didn’t – but just because it was one of those things that is a part of our collective consciousness.  Congrats to Alabama for their win. And congrats to Texas freshman QB Garret Gilbert who stepped into what had to be a nightmare situation for him.

Anyway – the best part of the game for me was the halftime show :) Seriously – I love marching bands. And ‘Bama picked not only one of my favorite songs but my favorite rendition of it. Here’s a live version of the Divine Miss M singing Cole Porter’s “Miss Otis Regrets.”

Outside of The Rose, probably my favorite Midler rendition is Empty Bed Blues ;)

I preferred Sad Cowbell Girl from the Fiesta Bowl.

Odd fact. Anyone know who was Bette Midler’s piano player in the beginning?

The Divine Miss M knows how to put on a show, that’s for sure ;)
