Maddow for President

On her show Wednesday night, Rachel Maddow did a segment in which she re-writes the Tuesday night speech of President Obama.

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. More like this.

Seriously, this is the kind of criticism of Obama we need more of. John Stewart also did a solid job of it the other night with his Candidate Obama v. President Obama on the rule of law issues. These are substantive criticisms that address real problems (cf. the halfwit cries of socialism and wholly transparent fake concern about spending from the right).

  2. Equally unqualified; couldn’t be any worse.

    • And I’m guessing you didn’t bother to watch the video; otherwise, I doubt you’d make such an inane comment.

      • I watched for about 6 minutes. Then I decided I she was just making a bunch of unsupported assertions.

The lady is only a pretty talking head. She wants us to believe that if she were president everything would be perfect. The fact is that none of us are perfect. No matter what we do we will make mistakes — sometime bad mistakes. Everytime you drive your car you take a calculated risk. Tomorrow may be the day you run over someone.

Yet Maddow begins by proposing that in order to drill offshore BP must be perfect. And we are suppose to take that seriously? Who lives like that? Who can afford to wait for perfection in themselves before they act? Yet Maddow demands of someone else what she will never demand of herself.

Jim is right. “Equally unqualified; couldn’t be any worse.”

  3. Unfortunately, converting from a significant petroleum based energy system to renewables cannot be accomplished by a Presidential decree. The science is not there yet. Also, I would have liked to have heard that President Maddow would reverse the decision not to store nuclear waste material at Yucca mountain. We cannot proceed with nuclear if there is no disposal site. Sadly, our only alternative at this time to stopping domestic drilling is even more dependence on foreign oil.
