Another OMG week in Norfolk

A quick rundown of the stories of interest this week:

  • The leak of the audit report on Commissioner Sharon McDonald came on Monday afternoon in advance of Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
  • The Council’s response Tuesday night was pretty harsh and included an ordinance.
  • The editorial board finally weighed in on the McDonald controversy.
  • The FBI and others have joined the probe into the issue of a 12-year no-show employee, who has finally been identified and who got raises during the 12 years.
  • Afr’am festival organizers shut down, leaving unpaid bills, including wages owed to police and sheriff’s deputies who provided security.
  • McDonald held a press conference (video here)
  • Barbara Lai, the city employee who bought a cell phone for a gang banger, involuntarily resigned.

Just another OMG week in our fine city

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
