Mae Hamlin Scott, the mother of 3rd Congressional District Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott, and the mother-in-law of Newport News Mayor McKinley Price, died yesterday. It was at her home that Rep. Scott hosted his annual Labor Day event.
Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday at O.H. Smith Funeral Home. Services will be held at noon on Monday at First Church of Newport News, 2300 Wickham Ave. Donations can be made to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church or the American Diabetes Association.
My condolences to the members of the Scott family.
UPDATE: The funeral home visitation will be from 3-5pm Sunday, with an Alpha Kappa Alpha ceremony at 3pm. The family will receive visitors at the home of Mrs. Scott’s daughter, Valerie Price, 938 Shore Drive, after 3pm today.
This is tragic. My prayers go out to Congressman Scott and his family during this difficult time.
