In these austere times, Suffolk City Manager Selena Cuffee-Glenn is proposing a budget that includes a raise of 21%.
Nevermind that “Surprising Suffolk,” as it used to be known, is smaller than its neighbors and has fewer employees. Nevermind, even, that the paltry 2% raises for its teachers will likely be scrapped. Nope, the city manager – and the city attorney and the city assessor – should be paid like their colleagues in neighboring localities.
It should be of no surprise, then, that the crowd last night ridiculed the proposed pay plan.
I’m guessing the only ones surprised in Suffolk now inhabit City Hall.
One of those face/palm moments. What were they thinking?
