A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. Kudos to Jeff Shapiro for his Wednesday column recognizing that the member of the General Assembly who began basing judicial elections on a judge’s sexuality was …Bob McDonnell. Even though he says it’s wrong now.

  2. Timothy,

I’m not sure where the 9th Amendment comes into play, although I will say that the SCOTUS should have just quoted it in the Roe decision and said, “This is one of those rights.” That would have been far better than the “eminences of penumbras” nonsense.

As to the “Crimes Against Nature” law, I would have problems with a candidate for a judgeship who went around promoting bestiality, incest, buggery, or oral sex. All but the last two are proscribed by the Bible. I’m not sure how those two got on the list.
