Two candidates filed petitions by 5pm last Friday to run as independents for the special election to be held December 18th in the 89th House District.
- Lionell Spruill, Jr., who failed to qualify to participate in the Democratic firehouse primary.
- James St. John, who ran a write-in campaign in the 5th Senate special election
The Norfolk Office of Elections has until 5pm today to certify these candidates.
I have heard that St. John was confirmed, but Spruill was short on petition signatures. I haven’t seen an official announcement, though.
