Quick thoughts on Sandy

Hampton Roads fared better than expected with the storm. I never lost power nor was my property flooded, both things for which I am grateful. I watched a lot of TV over the past couple of days, first seeing the damage to NC and then seeing the devastation in NJ and NY.

When something like this comes along, it is usually easier to put politics aside. Hurricanes don’t really pick and choose whether to hit Democrats or Republicans (although some idiot thinks it’s because of the gays). Both our governor, Bob McDonnell, and New Jersey governor Chris Christie, said nice things about President Obama and the FEMA operation.

There were, of course, exceptions, and the political pundits couldn’t help themselves: it’s always about politics to them.

My thoughts are with those who are dealing with the effects of the storm.

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!
